Daniel Paterson was born in Edinburgh in 1987 and began the violin at the age of 6. He studied with Nigel Murray and latterly with Olivier Lemoine at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he gained a Postgraduate Diploma, BMus Honours in violin performance and prizes for chamber music.

During this time he led the RCS Symphony Orchestra, String Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Opera Orchestra. He has performed extensively in Europe in venues including the Leipzig Gewandhaus and festivals including the Edinburgh International, Schleswig-Holstein, Sound Thought Festival, Glasgow Film Festival, Sound Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival and PLUG Festival. Daniel has performed with groups including the Scottish Chamber Music Players, the Ambassador Theatre Group, Dundee Repertory Theatre, Vignette Productions, Amicus Scotland and NYOS Futures.

Daniel is also a founding member of the Glasgow-based Viridian Quartet who are resident at Glasgow University. Daniel currently balances a performing and teaching career in Glasgow.
