Enjoyable and effective violin tuition in and around Glasgow
I have 18 years of playing experience and several years of violin teaching experience across Scotland. I teach primarily from my teaching studio in the centre of Glasgow however I am often able to drive to students in the suburbs of Glasgow.
I have a BMus Honours degree in Violin Performance (2.1) with an endorsement in String Teaching and a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance both from the Royal Consevatoire of Scotland. I hold a current disclosure certificate and I am a member of the European String Teachers Association. My rates are competitive (below musician's union recommendation) at £20 per hour (£13 per 30 mins) and lessons are individually tailored to each student depending on their ability, interests, age, goals etc. I teach students of all ages and abilities (beginners to advanced) in individual lessons. I may be able to organise a group lesson if required.
Currently I have 15 private students ranging from ages 5 to 65. I currently teach for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's MusicWorks project at the Stirling centre based in Dumblane. I teach for North Lanarkshire Council at Kilsyth Academy, Kilsyth Primary and Chapel Green Primary School. I also teach at Cargilfield Preparatory School in Cramond, Edinburgh. This work includes individual violin tuition, group violin tuition, music theory lessons, pre-instrumental lessons/games and quartet, ensemble and orchestral coaching. I have also taught for Glasgow University at degree level in addition to my current educational university residency with the Viridian Quartet. I have further experience in schools including Williamwood High and Garnock Academy.
My goal is always to provide lessons which are effective and enjoyable. I incorporate aspects of the Kodaly/Suzuki teaching method and students can be prepared for Graded exams and diplomas (ABRSM, Trinity) or I can work with you purely for pleasure. I am happy to teach all musical styles from Classical to Scottish Fiddle and Jazz/modern/pop.
Please phone or e-mail me if you would like to organise a consultation lesson where we can meet and get started.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you would like more information about taking lessons. Also, dont worry if you have not yet bought an instrument as I can give free advice on this and might also be able to temorarily lend you an instrument until you purchase one of your own.
